One of the communities we work with is located in Quipile, Cundinamarca, a few hours from Bogota. In the local indigenous language, Quipile “strong and superior place”.

Blessed with the Apulo River and an average temperature of 20C, this region is perfect for panela production and also produces some of the best coffee and plantain.

The goal of our project is to support 100 artisanal panela production facilities (trapiches) and over 300 producers by selling their panela. They bring their liquid panela to a local facility that transforms it into the highest quality consumer-ready panela.

Organoleptic characteristics:

Panela from Quipile has a light brown color, caramel-flavored under notes with a sweet aroma and a soft, fluffy texture as it melts in your mouth.
